Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a professional artist to record at Analog Acres?

Not at all. We work with everyone from first-time recording artists to seasoned professionals. If you have songs you're passionate about and are ready to take the next step, we'd love to hear about your project.

What makes Analog Acres different from other studios?

Analog Acres was built around the belief that great music comes from authentic performances, meaningful connections, and a comfortable creative environment. Located on a small working farm outside Nashville, we offer a slower, more personal recording experience centered around artists and songs rather than the clock. We also offer lodging for guest & visitors alike on our farm.

Do you record to tape?

Yes. We specialize in analog and hybrid recording and have a growing collection of restored vintage equipment, including tape machines and classic recording gear. We can help determine whether a fully analog or hybrid approach is best for your project.

Can you help with production and arrangements?

Yes. We can assist with everything from refining songs and arrangements to helping shape the overall vision for your project. We have access to some of the best songwriters in the world. Let’s discuss before you get booked to see how we can help.

How do we find out about pricing?

Every project is different, so we don't believe in one-size-fits-all pricing. Some artists simply need studio time and an engineer. Others bring their own producer. Some are looking for full production, arrangement help, session musicians, songwriting support, mixing, or guidance from start to finish.

Because every project has different goals, timelines, and needs, we create custom quotes based on the scope of the work.

The best way to get started is to reach out and tell us a little about your project. We'd love to hear what you're working on and help determine the best path forward.

Email us at booking@analogacres.com or schedule a discovery call to discuss your project and receive a personalized quote.

Why would I leave Nashville to record outside the city?

Some artists thrive in the energy of the city. Others do their best work when they can step away from the noise. Analog Acres offers a peaceful environment where you can focus on the music, sleep well, take a walk between takes, meet the animals, and immerse yourself in the creative process without distraction.

Do you rent by the hour or by the day?

We've found that artists create their best work when they're not watching the clock. Recording takes time, and some of the best moments happen when there's space to experiment, take a walk, enjoy lunch, or simply let a song develop naturally.

For that reason, Analog Acres is designed around full-day sessions and project-based recording rather than hourly studio rentals.

If you have a smaller project, consultation, lesson, workshop, or special circumstance, feel free to reach out. We're happy to discuss options and find the best fit for your goals.

Do you work with singer-songwriters?

All the time! Many of our clients are looking for an artist-focused recording experience.

Can I stay on the property?
Is lodging available?

Yes. On-site lodging is available for artists and project teams who would like to stay on the property during their recording experience.

Lodging is $185 per night for one guest. Additional guests may be added for $25 per person, per night.

The lodging space includes:
• Three private bedrooms
• Two full bathrooms + a fully stocked kitchen.
• Access to the farm
• A quiet, comfortable environment designed for creativity and rest

One bedroom is located within our writing room, creating a unique space for songwriters and artists looking to stay immersed in the creative process.

Many artists choose to stay on-site to make the most of their recording experience, enjoy the peaceful farm setting, and spend less time commuting and more time focused on the music.

What genres do you work with?

While we work with artists across many genres, Analog Acres is especially well suited for music that benefits from real performances, organic instrumentation, and authentic storytelling.

We have a particular love for classic rock, Americana, folk, country, singer-songwriter, roots, blues, and other artist-driven music. Our analog recording approach tends to shine when capturing the warmth, dynamics, and personality of live musicians playing together in a room.

That said, great songs come in many forms. Whether your project is acoustic, electric, modern, experimental, or somewhere in between, we're always happy to explore what best serves the music.

Rather than fitting artists into a specific sound, our goal is to help bring your vision to life while creating recordings that feel timeless, honest, and uniquely yours.

What if we don’t want to travel with gear. Can use yours?

While many artists choose to bring their favorite instruments and equipment, we maintain a growing collection of studio gear that may be available for your project, including amplifiers, guitars, keyboards, drums, vintage recording equipment, microphones, and other creative tools.

If you're traveling from out of town, flying in, or simply prefer not to haul equipment, you are welcome to use the equipment here.

What if I don’t have a band or any session players to be on my record?

That's completely okay—and actually very common.

Many artists come to us with nothing more than a song, an acoustic guitar, a voice memo, or a vision for what they'd like their music to become.

Depending on your project, we can help connect you with talented session musicians, arrange parts, develop the production, and build the right team to bring your songs to life. Whether you need a drummer, bassist, keyboard player, guitarist, string arrangements, background vocals, or full-band production, we'll help guide the process.

Some artists arrive with a fully formed band. Others arrive with a notebook full of songs. We welcome both.
